Video: Director Mat Whitecross and actor Nico Mirallegro came in to talk about their new coming-of-age film, Spike Island

Profile: Spike Island is a brand new coming-of-age film about a group of avid Stone Roses fans determined to get in to see their idols play at Spike Island in Manchester. With Mat Whitecross' last film being the hugely acclaimed Ian Dury biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, he's used his passion for music as his inspiration again here.

In the past Whitecross has also dabbled in documentary cinema, directing the brilliantly affective The Road To Guantanamo and Moving To Mars, the former alongside Michael Winterbottom. Spike Island, however, is Nico Mirallegro's first feature film. The young actor has previously had long-running parts in TV shows such as Upstairs Downstairs and Hollyoaks.
