Video: Screenwriter Alexander Abela came into the studio to talk about his beautiful new film, Zarafa

Profile: Zarafa tells the story of Maki, a ten-year-old Sudanese boy, who escapes a slave trader and befriends a young giraffe on his way to Paris as a gift to the King of France.

Travelling with desert prince Hassan and balloonist Malaterre they experience many adventures on their journey, but for Maki, his plan is always to escape and bring the young giraffe back to his mother.

We were delighted to be able to talk to Alexander about what inspired him to adapt the true story of the arrival of the first giraffe to France to the screen, and also about the differences between writing for animated films and live action.
