Review of the week
(15 Sep 08 - 21 Sep 08)

Here at FILMCLUB we don't want to tell you which movies are great - we want you to tell us, and everyone else.

This weeks review of the week comes from:

Ruth from Broughton Hall High School (Aged 16)

Amelie

5 stars out of 5 15 September 2008

One of my favourite films. A funny and touching story of a quiet, almost childlike young woman who tries to help the people around her. The settings are so perfect they could be from a fairytale and the characters are completely unforgettable. Don't be put of by the fact that it's in French with subtitles!

Other reviews this week:

Pans Labyrinth

5 stars out of 5 15 September 2008

A really beautiful film. I'm interested in alternitive and foreign fairytales so I enjoyed this. I do think it mixes history in well with fantasy, even if it does create a huge contrast. Subtitled, but after about 5 minutes, hardly noticable.

The Lives Of Others

4 stars out of 5 15 September 2008

An extremely interesting film if you're interested in this area of modern european history. A fantastic example of life in 1980s Germany. Subtitled.

Napoleon Dynamite

Hilarious and unexpected. Everyone should see this film at least once. The world just seems a happier place afterwards.
